The Hilltop House, as the name suggests, is a secluded cottage at the top of the hill overlooking the Yale Valley. Group sizes vary with the type of group event and the season. Numbers tend to increase in the summer with RV's, tents, and sleeping on a deck under the stars.
Our conference room is ideal for large group celebrations, business meetings, anniversary parties, performances, weddings, family gatherings or just plain fun! It is fully carpeted and has a amazing rock fireplace as a focal point. The antique baby grand piano rounds off this impressive space.
Guests enjoy our newly constructed reception pavilion. With laminate flooring it is perfect for dancing, meeting and celebrations of all kinds. The quaint parlor stove is a real conversation piece. The many picture windows seem to bring the nature inside the room. Everyone is captivated with the breathtaking view of the forest, apple orchard and mountaintops.
Catering is available for our groups at the Hilltop House. We can provide buffets, barbecues, formal dinners and even sack lunches. We are proud of our catering staff. The are experienced and offer quality meals for Anderson Lodge guests. There are many groups who feel that the cooking and serving is all part of their retreat experience. You are welcome to have volunteers from your group provide the meals and utilize our well stocked kitchens.
Lodging
The Hilltop Sleeping House consists of a kitchen, 3 bathrooms, 4 bedrooms, leisure area and small dining room. There are 18 separate beds: 12 double beds and 6 single beds. The beds are replicas of those found in Swedish cabins. Many beds have curtains around them for privacy. There are 2 additional bathrooms and a fully equipped kitchen in the conference room (adjacent to the Hilltop House) as well.
The Hilltop site has 3 chalet style cabins that are an optional rental to groups at the Hilltop. Each has a kitchen, bathroom, living/dining area and a loft with 2 twins. The sofa in the cabin slides out and pops up to convert to a comfortable double bed. They have been popular for groups renting the Hilltop and also for people wanting to climb Mt. St. Helens or utilize other recreational possibilities in the area. These cabins may also be rented by families individually.
The Scandinavian design, spectacular view and the secluded location make the Hilltop House a one-of-a-kind facility.
The Outdoor Setting
The Hilltop House is truly a special location. It is perched on 75 acres of natural beauty and wildlife. The view and the natural beauty surrounding the lodge enhances any celebration or event. R.V. hook-ups are available and the acreage is perfect for campers in your group as well.
As a tribute to Sweden and their love for coffee, we constructed "Ella's Coffee House" at the edge of the orchard. It is a place for groups to relax, sit back and enjoy the peaceful surroundings and YES, have some coffee if they wish! The charming gazebo offers another place of solitude or backdrop for a wedding couple. For the 100th anniversary of the apple orchard we planted some standard apple trees to re-establish and complete the orchard. We are trying to carry on the traditions of Sweden in our attention to detail and love for nature.
The children’s play area, outdoor game area, children’s playhouse, and covered campfire amphitheatre are just a few of the activities we have on site. With 75 acres of nature's best, you can enjoy the network of hiking trails too. Whether your group consists of adults, children or both, there really is something for everyone. For those who like less strenuous activities, settling in with a good book with the backdrop of that spectacular view is a great leisure time choice.
